As a first time reader of Colleen Coble, it was lovely to be given the opportunity to review the leading novel in her latest series, Under the Texas Stars. I've never really been partial to reading Westerns, but the aspect of a Christian romance did pique my interest. It was actually very interesting to see how the author tied in various lessons of faith, such as mercy and love. The other thing that caught my attention was the elegant name of thisromance, Blue Moon Promise. Probably inspired by the saying "once in a blue moon", the significance of the title is grasped by the reader as the book finishes off.
Blue Moon Promise is the story of young Lucy Marsh, who is determined to take care of her siblings after her father's untimely death. With no family or money to support her, she enters a marriage of convenience, hoping for a safe refuge. However, her new husband isn't what she expected and adjusting to life on the ranch is no easy task either. When she discovers that her father's death was no accident, it seems that there are more problems than she can face alone, but will she have her husband by her side?

One main difference that I noticed between Christian romances and modern romances was
how chaste it was. I like the fact that it felt very innocuous as opposed to the more racy romances that are common these days. This made the few kisses that the main characters shared all the more endearing and sweet. It really was a welcoming change for me to read a romance that didn't have anything remotely suggestive, let alone explicit. I also like how the leading couple's interactions were realistic and fluid. The development of their feelings for each other in an arranged marriage was well timed and believable.
Overall, I quite enjoyed reading Blue Moon Promise and would definitively recommend this to fans of Christian romances, or even those who'd like a little change from more risque romances. I look forward to seeing more of Collen Coble's work in the future! 5/5
