Book Review: The Grace of God
I recently had the pleasure of reading "The Grace of God" by Andy Stanley. For those who are not familiar with Andy Stanley, he is a well known pastor and motivational speaker. While I have never heard him in person, after hearing a few podcasts of his sermons, it was apparent that Stanley is an amazing speaker on the topics of God and leadership. As my first time reading a book of his, the experience was not unlike listening to the sermons. In fact,
I would say that this was merely a different medium of expressing himself, and really, it was a collection of sermons in a book format. The subject, like the title, is simply God's grace and it's appearances in the Scripture. His writing is extremely detailed and each chapter bring fresh perspectives on the different aspects of Grace.
I found it interesting that Stanley's inspiration to write this book came from his wife when she expressed preference of the God in the New Testament over the Old. But, Stanley shows through thorough analysis of biblical texts, that God's grace has been present through the history of mankind and how these lessons can be applied to our everyday lives. In "The Grace of God", Andy Stanley explores the relationship between God and man and shares these meaningful revelations with us as the readers. I would most definitively recommend this to those interested in biblical study. 5/5
